I've never lived in DC before, but my uncle and wife, as well as my godfather all have been living there for quite some time. I was born in Delaware, and lived in Philly, but most of my family is scattered about the northeast (to include NY). I plan on going to NY anyway to see my family in Queens next summer. So, with that said, we'll run into each other.
The Israeli Army? That shit's no joke. Let's put it this way, if we went up against the Israelis in small unit combat, we would get our asses handed to us. They're much better trained. I don't think she's selfish, but, more or less, vows allegiance to a country other than the US. Treason? Maybe, but it's understandable.
For me, I have my passions that keep me sane; music, fashion, automotive enthusiasm, politics (and writing about those passions). All I need to do is be in a place where I can relate any one of my interests to my job, and make a decent living. I've done a few things to set myself up, of course, and I'm not too bad with networking, so DC will be a good place for me.
I can relate to you a lot better than you may understand. I was there. Stud in high school that played varsity sports, involved in music, editor of the literary magazine, etc, etc, etc. College came around and I smoked mad herb, drank too much, procrastinated, and didn't take much seriously.
I joined the Marine Corps; don't do that unless you have some odd desire to be a worker bee in a monstrous bureaucracy, and ultimately, go to war. I just wanted to go to war, right off the jump; I wanted to kill people. I was obsessed with the idea of it. Now, I realize that the past 3 years was all necessary because now I know exactly what I want to do, and what I need to do, with my life.
